Introducing Lalin St. Juste
I’ve decided to start a blog to share my voice…to explore, to look inward, to analyze, critique, question, learn. I am in the process of reconnecting with this part of who I am, this writer-self, whose presence was once clearly known and undeniable and now has malformed into a shadowy existence, troubled by insecurity and doubt.
But slowly I can feel this self re-emerging, I can feel words shooting out again from the tip of my mind to the tip of my fingers, ready to be written and to be seen.
This blog will bear witness to this reclamation and growth.

Your health piece was affected me greatly, La. As I age I’m becoming increasingly aware of how the food I consume effects me. I’ve cut out of a lot of brands of food, but I see I still need to remove more. I’m sick after many meals unless it’s something I’ve prepared and it’s a balanced meal. It also costs me more to eat in that manner.
It’s frustrating! My weight issues cloud the problem even more, but I keep trying. Drive thru fast food has been eliminated, well there were some chicken nuggets 2 months ago from Wendy’s, but other than that, I haven’t eaten it in over a year. I can’t take the aftermath o top of that fact it’s just gross. Dairy? Well, I love milk, but seldom drink it, and cheese, well, I do indulge in cheeses in salads.
I love to cook, so I’m learning to incorporate veggies into every meal and eat large portion of them. I know there has to be a way I can have a healthy, balanced diet even if I do eat meat. I’m sick of being sick….

Anitra,
More power to you for listening to your body. And it really comes down to balance. You can definitely be pretty healthy while eating meat (but it does have a toxins unless you buy it organic) I’d just make sure to cut it so that you’re not eating it everyday but maybe a couple times a week(and perhaps exclude red meat altogether). You hit it right on the nose about the veggies…that’s what I’m working on- eating them at every meal or most as opposed to one meal a day. I hear you sis!
